Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP)
Where Does NLP Come From?
Perhaps you've read the book or watched the movie, entitled ‘The Secret’ Or perhaps you’ve heard about the ‘Law of Attraction’ or terms like ‘mental magnetism’.
If so, you’d know that we literally attract what we think about. How we think and feel about the world and the way we see it and fit into it has a massive impact on the results we achieve. That's the 'neuro' or neurological part.
You may also have heard about how we human beings communicate through ‘body language’ from the works of people like Allan Pease or Desmond Morris.
If so, you’d know that our verbal communication (language) actually only accounts for about 7% of what we actually communicate to other people! The 'linguistic' part is about how we communicate, even when we don't realise that we are sending out messages.
NLP began near Silicon Valley in California, where scientists supposedly collaborated with new age therapists, trying to match science with intuition. It has evolved from studies of human behaviour, studies of our conditioning or programming, of the impact of our childhood or formative years on our later lives, and of how the way we think causes us to repeat 'programs or patterns' of learned behaviour.
Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) therefore is the behavioural science of how we humans tick, and the analysis and practical awareness of it has been labelled as 'success coaching'.
NLP has been systemised into a form of alternative therapy. Wikipedia goes on to summarise NLP as "a ‘science of excellence’, applied within management training, life coaching, alternative medicine, large group awareness training, and the self-help industry.”
Why Tony Inman is Qualified to Coach You in NLP - the Behavioural Science of Success
As stated above, NLP was proposed and developed near where the greatest scientific minds of Silicon Valley met the spiritually-attuned, alternative therapists. It is an amalgamation from the studies, theories and practical applications of techniques compiled by some very clever and creative people, including the early protagonists: Richard Bandler, John Grinder, Virginia Satir, Fritz Perls and Milton Erickson, to name but a few.
I completed my initial NLP Practitioner training in Perth in 2010, under the guidance of NLP Master Trainers, George Faddoul of Australia and Dr. Matthew James of Hawaii, USA. I then flew to Sydney for my Master Practitioner Training under George Faddoul (again) and Nick Leforce from California, USA. I returned to Sydney in 2011 to complete my certification as a Trainer in NLP.
Also in 2011, I completed a six-month program with monthly visits to Sydney and Melbourne, studying under expert Coach Trainers, Jeffrey Slater from Hawaii and Kane Minkus from California. I also studied under their mentor, Dr Carl Buchheit who had spent over thirty years running the NLP Marin Institute in California. These studies also gave me NLP Master Certificates.
In addition, over the years I have studied the internationally-renowned Tony Robbins' brand of NLP, which he calls Neuro Associative Conditioning (NAC), completing his 'Personal Power' and 'Get the Edge' programs. I'm also a Member of the International Institute of Complimentary Therapists.
NLP Can Help You To Move Forwards Towards Achieving Your Goals
People often find themselves feeling ‘stuck’, either feeling like they are in a rut, or wanting to change their life but not knowing how. They repeat self-destructive or self-sabotaging patterns that block their path to success.
While NLP is an extremely useful tool for a coach to have in his toolbox, it is just one of a number of tools that can enable a coach, like Tony Inman, to help you achieve your goals in life and in business.
I run courses that help people to learn about NLP and to be empowered to apply tools and techniques in their careers and in their relationships.
If you're still not completely sure that this can help you, I'd suggest reading either of the books in my shop, such as 'How to Get a Bigger Bite Out of Life' with George Faddoul, or the book that I authored alone, 'If Life's Worth Doing, It's Worth Doing Well'.
If you're ready to have a chat about NLP or about how success coaching can expedite your journey to fulfillment, then why not schedule a time for a chat with me to discuss your situation.
